Membership

Criteria

Any person can be a member of the Society. New members usually join one of the affiliated clubs and pay an annual club membership fee that includes the Society subscription of $35. This is because of a rule that all members of affiliated caving clubs have to be members of the Society.

Fees

The Society membership fee includes a subscription to the newsletter "TomoTimes" and the NZ Speleological Bulletin. A second or subsequent adult members of a family at the same mailing address can become joint members by paying an additional $25 rather than the full $35. Additional family members under the age of 18 can become family members for an additional $5 each. Joint and family members do not receive extra copies of the Society's publications.

The financial year starts on September 1st. New members are expected to pay a full year's subscription (and will receive a full year's set of publications) if they join the Society before March 1st. If a new member joins in March-June inclusive, half of the current annual membership subscription will be paid. If a new member joins in July or August their subscription also covers the whole of the following year.

Life Membership

Life Membership of the Society can be conferred on a member of the Society by Council in recognition of meritorious achievement in caving at a national level.
