The New Zealand Cave Atlas

This is a compilation of all New Zealand cave maps published by the Society, reproduced in A4 format. The first edition, produced in 1980, covered the whole country in one volume. In 1988 The North Island Cave Atlas (N.Z. Cave Atlas - Volume 1) of just North Island caves was published (currently being updated). The South Island Cave Atlas (N.Z. Cave Atlas - Volume 2) was published in 1990 and revised in 1993 and 2004.

Delving Deeper

Delving Deeper is a comprehensive chronicle of the history of the first 50 years of the New Zealand Speleological Society and the development of world class adventure caving in New Zealand. The book commences with a chapter on the pre-history (pre NZSS) of caving in New Zealand, and the rest of the book is divided into caving history by decade; 1950s, 1960s, etc. There are detailed descriptions of cavers' exploits and exploration throughout New Zealand, together with scientific discoveries, accidents, rescues, surveying and advances in caving techniques. There are black and white photographs on almost every page, a selection of colour photographs plus a bibliography and index.
