The NZSS Produces a number of Publications: The Tomo TimesThe Tomo Times is published about every two months and covers news of caving discoveries, social events, club news, NZSS Council business, advertising, caving trips, etc. The Editor will gratefully receive articles that Society members send in. The NZSS BulletinThe New Zealand Speleological Bulletin is a long-term record of cave exploration in New Zealand, and also publishes articles on cave science topics and other items of caving interest. Articles about New Zealand caving, caves and cavers are welcome. Occasional PublicationsThe Society publishes occasional publications from time to time on various topics. Those to date are:
The New Zealand Cave AtlasThis is a compilation of all New Zealand cave maps published by the Society, reproduced in A4 format. The first edition, produced in 1980, covered the whole country in one volume. In 1988 The North Island Cave Atlas (N.Z. Cave Atlas - Volume 1) of just North Island caves was published (currently being updated). The South Island Cave Atlas (N.Z. Cave Atlas - Volume 2) was published in 1990 and revised in 1993 and 2004. Cave MapsCopies of all NZSS cave maps are available from the NZSS Maps Officer. A charge is made to cover costs. Members are encouraged to survey their cave discoveries and to send the tracings to the NZSS Maps Officer for printing. Draughting film is available from the Maps Officer at no charge to members. For information on cave mapping standards and techniques, see the South Island volume of the New Zealand Cave Atlas, or contact the Maps Officer. All affiliated clubs are supplied with an up-to-date set of maps of caves within their Police District for Search and Rescue purposes. The Waitomo Caves Museum houses the Society's archival set of maps. ConstitutionThe Constitution is published the in the NZSS handbook (see below) as well as being available on the NZSS website. |
